Description:
Irish Half-gallon capacity church flagon of typical Dublin style, with a bold swan's neck handle, double-dome lid, reeded spout and reeded chairback thumbpiece, probably by John Heaney of Dublin who worked 1763 - 1807.

These flagon were for communion use in Churches.

Literature: See D. Hall, Types of Irish Pewter, In association with the National Museum of Ireland (2005), pp. 23 - 24, for further illustrated examples.

This flagon is one of a pair, the other is stock number P-138d, if the pair are purchased I will discount the total price by 10%.

Condition:
Excellent condition with a polished silver grey finish and some small traces of light oxide.

Repairs: There is an old 'waterproofing' seal to the underside base rim.

Height to top of thumbpiece: 11.50 in (29.50cm).
Base diameter: 7.25in (18.4cm).
Top diameter: 4.75in (12.00cm).

Capacity: Approximately 1/2 gallon .

Antique Irish pewter 1 pint measure, by Joseph Austen & son of Cork, Ireland. The measure has a plain body with slightly flared foot, and ‘C’ shape handle.
Verification marks to the right of handle, ‘Irish Harp’, ‘Crown ER VR’, stamped ‘1 PINT’, initials ‘J F’ stamped to front.
There is a very good Touch mark to the inside of the base for ‘Austen & Son, 91 North Main Street, IMPERIAL’.
The measure is in good condition with a silver grey finish with some oxide patches. There are numerous dents and bumps consistent with age and use, there are two small splits to the rim and an old solder repair to the base.

Circa 1830.
