Description

Description: Antique English pewter single reeded plate probably by William Cooke of Bristol, England, who worked 1795-1812. There are ownership initials IS to the front rim and clear touchmarks to the reverse. There is a incised line to the bowl of the plate.
Condition: The plate is in good condition with a clean polished finish to the front and reverse, there are some knife marks to the front.
Repairs: There are no repairs.
Size: 9.00 inch diameter (23.00cm).
Weight: 397 grams.

Pewter Society: - PS1909.
Cotterell: Old Pewter: Its Makers and Marks - OP1095.
Notes: These marks are also attributed to White Cooke II of Shrewsbury (PS1922) who worked 1749 - 1785. These marks have been found on his wares, so exact attribution is not certain.
