Description

Description:
A lidded tankard of 1 pint Imperial capacity, of U shape with a double dome lid with open chairback thumb piece. The body has two sets of incised banding and stands on a flared foot. The handle is of double scroll form with a fishtail terminal. There are no makers marks but this style of tankard would date to circa 1800-20. The tankard is inscribed to the front with the initials RH; there are also no verification marks which would suggest that this was for private use.
Condition:
Excellent condition with a very lightly polished silver grey finish and some very small traces of light oxide.
Repairs: There are no repairs that I could detect.
Size:
Height to top of thumb piece: 6.75 in (17.20cm).
Base diameter: 3.625in (9.3cm).
Capacity: 20.00floz, 1 Pint Imperial Standard.
Weight: 565 grams.
